Something happened at the MLB meetings in Florida today that has
nothing to do with
Giancarlo Stanton. We know, we know—that's
very hard to believe. But in fact, MLB’s Chief Legal Officer
Dan Halem told the press that
a pitch clock could actually be in place in Major League Baseball for the 2018 season. Any such change—part of a broader 'pace-of-play' agreement with the MLB Players Association— would need to be finalized by early January to start this season. But, given the general consensus on the issue between players and owners, it actually has a good chance of happening. The experimental phase in the minor leagues has proven extremely successful—with no significant impact on the "integrity" of the game. Stay tuned!
