Ever heard of the American Hockey League
Springfield Thunderbirds? Yeah, we haven't either. But, thanks to some pretty slick promotional activities, your are about to learn a
lot more about professional hockey in western Massachusetts. On Saturday, November 11th, Red Sox legend
David Ortiz will be at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield as a special guest of those same Thunderbirds. Ortiz
will drop the first puck and also take part in between-periods festivities. Fans can even take a picture with the 2013 World Series trophy. Thunderbirds team President
Nathan Costa stated,
"When we heard about Ortiz and the chance to bring him out—an American Hockey League franchise hasn't brought out a star of that caliber out in a long time." Ice, ice, Papi!
