We Need More Homers! |
It's
almost December and 'Dealin'
Dave Dombrowski has not yet made a substantive move to improve the offensive black hole in your
2018 Carmine Hose. It was December 6th of
last year that
Double D pulled off the
Chris Sale trade—sending top prospects
Yoan Moncada and
Michael Kopech, et. al. to
The Windy City. We'd say that deal turned out pretty well. This off-season, Dombrowski's chief mission is to bolster an anemic Red Sox offense—one that was
dead last in the AL in HRs (168). By contrast,
The Evil Ones topped the league with 241 HRs—
seventy-three more. Clearly, a trade for
Giancarlo Stanton (which is
either imminent or an impossible long-shot) would dramatically improve that HR output—heck, Boston players would be in scoring position in the
on-deck circle! Alternatively, free-agent acquisitions like
J.D. Martinez and/or
Carlos Santana would
also up the power quotient. But, DD needs to do
something—and quickly!
