New Red Sox manager
Alex Cora can now add another ring to the one he got as a member of Boston's 2007 World Series Championship team. Cora and the Astros somewhat easily took Game 7 of the 2017 World Series—
beating the Dodgers 5-1. University of Connecticut alum
George Springer (who grew up a Red Sox fan in The Nutmeg State) was named the MVP of the series. The New Britain native hit .379 in the World Series—with 5 HRs and 7 RBIs. He slugged 1.000 over the seven games. Cora will have very little time to celebrate, as the Red Sox need to get going immediately on building their 2018 roster.
