Sox Cut Magic Number To 2, Bail Out Porcello, 10-7
The most important thing to come out of last night game is that the Red Sox are an inch closer to the division crown. Despite another lousy performance from Rick Porcello (5.2 innings, 5 ER), Boston's offense came off the mat to score nine runs in the first three innings. Monster shots by Hanley Ramirez (solo HR) and Xander Bogaerts (3-run HR) led the way in the eventual 10-7 win. Dustin Pedroia, Mitch Moreland (solo HR) and Rajai Davis each had two hits apiece. David Price was nasty in 1.1 innings of work—striking out three. Boston enjoys a three-game lead over The Bronx Embalmers with four to play. Unfortunately, those four games are against the Huston Astros—still battling Cleveland for the best overall record in the American league. Stay tuned! (Getty Images)
