Three of Boston's brightest young stars stepped forward on Thursday night to help defeat the woeful White Sox, 9-5.
Rafael Devers and
Mookie Betts each clouted two-run home runs and
Andrew Benintendi was on base five times (3-3, BB, HBP, 2R, RBI) in the
9-5 Red Sox win.
Rick Porcello was again medicore—going just 5.1 innings and giving up five earned runs. Also starring on the offensive side were:
Hanley Ramirez (2-4, 2 RBIs),
Mitch Moreland (2-5, RBI) and
Eduardo Núñez (2-5, RBI). The offense is finally beginning to show some consistency—even in the absence of July's offensive star,
Dustin Pedroia. The win was Boston's third straight and moved them two full games ahead of the losing
Bronx Embalmers.
