Rotation Has Sale Facing Empire In All Remaining Series
The long-term pattern of the Red Sox starting pitching rotation is fitting in nicely with the interests of the team. As it stands now, staff ace Chris Sale with take the ball in each of the remaining three series against The Bronx Embalmers. Stated Sox manager John Farrell to ESPN, "You look ahead, there’s three series against New York. Chris is mapped out to be in every one of them. You balance rest, but then you also look at how do you match up and align guys going forward." Wednesday's rainout (in what was to be the final game of the three-game series against Cleveland) affords Boston the chance to push back each starter one day. The downside is that Sale won't be able to face his old teammates on Sunday. But, clearly, with the AL East race as tight as it is, every opportunity to dominate your chief rival is a much more important tactical and strategic goal.
