'Mitchy Walk-Off' Sends Red Sox To 3-2 Extras Victory
Mitch Moreland came into the game late as a defensive replacement. He ended things with offensive flair—lining a rising shot into the Monster Seats for a 3-2, 11th-inning walk-off win. An inning earlier things didn't look so good. The Pale Hose got the first two on against Heath Hembree, but The Hirsute One fired a bunt attempt to third—and Rafael Devers held the bag for the force out. Then, Christian Vazquez gunned down a lolly-gagging runner off second, and soon, the inning was over. That set the stage for "Mitchy Walk-Off". Eduardo Rodriguez had another high-pitch count, so-so outing—although he gave up just two runs on five hits. As he is wont to do since donning Carmine Hose, Eduardo Núñez tied the game at two with his third HR since joining Boston. Both The Evil Ones and Rays lost—so Boston's lead in the AL East stands at three full games. Amazing win! (AP Photo)
