Apparently, it's just
Tito Francona who has something on
Chris Sale. The
Cy Young-bound Red Sox lefty was his old dominant self on Tuesday night, whitewashing the Blue Jays over seven strong innings in
a 3-0 shutout win. The lanky port-sider (now 15-4) struck out 11 Torontonians on his way to being the
quickest in Major League Baseball history to notch 1,500 strikeouts. Sale gave up just three hits on the night, lowering his ERA to 2.77. On the offensive side, key hits came from
Hanley Ramirez (solo HR),
Eduardo Nunez (2-3, RBI) and
Andrew Benintendi (RBI single).
Rajai Davis also had two hits and two stolen bases.
Addison Reed pitched a scoreless 8th inning and
Craig Kimbrel nailed down his 31st save with a clean 9th.
The Carmine Hose moved to a
full four-game lead on
The Bronx Embalmers—who were rained out at
The Concrete Bunker On 161st Street.
