This winning thing is starting to get addicting. The Red Sox tallied their eighth straight win last night,
beating up the fading Rays, 8-2 in Tampa. Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of the win was the solid outing by
Rick Porcello, who—despite giving up his requisite two solo HRs—went six solid innings. The former
Cy Young Award winner gave up just four hits—while striking out seven. The offense was helped by crappy Rays defense—with three runs scoring on passed balls or wild pitches.
Andrew Benintendi and
Eduardo Núñez were the hitting stars—although the biggest hit may have been
Sandy Leon's two-run double that stretched the lead to 5-0. Boston remains four games up on
The Bronx Embalmers and goes 7.5 up on Tampa.
