It's well known that the Red Sox are focusing on San Francisco's
Eduardo Nunez as a trade target to fill their third base void. But,
Boston may also snag a relief pitcher in any deal with the Giants—with
Hunter Strickland being the most talked-about arm. Such a "package" would solve two problems for the Red Sox in one fell swoop. You may remember that the 28-year-old Strickland was originally drafted by the Red Sox (in the 18th round of the 2007 draft). Before he could throw a pitch in anger for Boston, he was shipped to Pittsburgh in 2009 for
Adam LaRoche. You may also remember that Strickland was involved in an epic brawl with Nationals superstar
Bryce Harper this past May.
