Sox Head Home Just One-Half Game Up On Evil Empire
Last night, The Bronx Embalmers pulled out a come-from-behind, walk-off win over the Rays—slashing Boston's lead in the AL East to just one-half game. So, if the red-hot Royals take down the Red Sox and David "Clap-On, Clap-Off" Price tonight—and The Evil Ones win again: Hello, second-place! Fresh off a lousy 2-4 West Coast road trip, the vibe around this team is about as stable as the Trump White House. The media frenzy surrounding the Price/Dennis Eckersley plane confrontation has reached fever pitch (no pun intended), and finger-pointing may soon ensue. Moreover, unless the team has a successful home stand, John Farrell's job could be in jeopardy. This is a critical eight-game Fenway stretch—followed by five more road games in Tampa (2) and New York (3). With the Trade Deadline sandwiched in between, it's anybody's guess what type of roster/leadership will prevail when the team comes back to Fenway on August 15th. Buckle your seat belts!
