OK, now, we're becoming jaded. We
expect Chris Sale to deliver CyYoung-quality starts every five days. And delver he
did on Friday night—blanking the hapless Angels for six innings in
Boston's 6-2 win. The tall, thin lefty gave up just four hits, walking two and striking out nine. Boston jumped out to a 5-0 first-inning lead, and Angel manager
Mike Scioscia must have known that—with Sale on the hill—the horse had left the barn. The Red Sox offense was led by
Jackie Bradley, Jr. and
Mookie Betts (each with two hits and an RBI).
Andrew Benintendi,
Mitch Moreland and
Xander Bogaerts also had RBIs. The win pushed Boston's AL East division lead to 3.5 games over Tampa and
The Evil Ones.
