Suddenly, this team does not feel like a winner. Blowing 2-0 and 3-1 leads, the Red Sox committed two costly errors in
a deflating 5-3 loss to Kansas City. For so many reasons, this
should have been an exhilarating win: 1.) another solid
Drew Pomeranz start (6.2 innings, one earned run); 2.) another HR by rookie phenom
Rafael Devers; 3.) a chance to take a series from a tough opponent; 4.) the real opportunity (with an
Evil Empire loss) to climb back into first place. All of it disappeared in a error-filled, 4-run inning.
Matt Barnes took the loss, getting
no outs and giving up four runs (three earned) in that horrific eighth.
Wicked bad loss—no biscuit.
