Drew Pomeranz just keeps on pitching well—
and well above expectations. The lefty went 6.2 innings last night giving up just three hits and one
un-earned run in
a 5-1 Boston victory. It was his 10th win of the 2017 season. On the offensive side,
Dustin Pedroia continued his
Jumpin' July—going 2-3 with a walk and knocking in three runs.
Chris Young continued to shine in the DH role—going 2-4 and
Mookie Betts scored two of Boston's five runs.
Deven Marrero delivered a two-run single early to help set the tone for the night. Pomeranz was not
fully sharp, but he wriggled out of several jams with double-play balls and guile. The Boston win—coupled with losses by both Tampa and
The Pinstriped Posers—stretched the Red Sox division lead to three full games.
