The Red Sox officially activated
Eduardo Núñez and assigned him the uniform number 36. The
really good news in all of this is that the team
kept Rafael Devers on the major league roster and optioned
Deven Marerro back to AAA. It's expected that Núñez will start at 3B tonight against the Royals. Despite hitting just .212 for the big club, Marerro delivered some much-needed defensive stability at 3B for the Red Sox—and even filled-in when needed at other IF positions. His 2017 experience has no doubt elevated his status in the overall organization.
