Maybe
Chris Sale should have flown ahead of his teammates to Florida instead of goofing around with them on Thursday in the dugout—
and landing in Tampa on Friday at 5AM. Whatever the cause, Sale was merely human last night in
a 4-1 loss to the Rays. Sale gave up four runs and two killer HRs—despite striking out 12 batters over seven innings. Again, the Boston offense was stymied on just five hits—two by
Dustin Pedroia. Oh, did we mention that
Xander Bogaerts missed out on the All-Star Game final vote and was plunked on the wrist and had to leave the game? Great. As
FenwayNation Editor
Henry Kanter aptly put it,
"It feels like two losses when Sale loses". Indeed.
