Sox Second-Round Pick Cole Brannen In Action |
With their second pick in the
2017 MLB Draft (#63 overall), the Red Sox selected a high-school center fielder from Georgia.
Cole Brannen is most prized for his
speed—both in the outfield and on the base-paths. According to most scouts, he also has line-drive gap power to all fields. The 6'1", 190-pound Brannen is a left-handed hitter—who several scouts have deemed as having "five-tool" potential. He has a verbal commitment to attend Georgia Southern—but is expected to take the Red Sox offer and begin his trek through the Boston organization.
