Tonight it was
Andrew Benintendi who was the walk-off hero—roping a line shot to right field to knock in the winning run in the 12th.
The 4-3 win marked the first time Boston had back-to-back walk-offs since 1972—
during the Nixon Administration.
David Price had a so-so outing—but it was dramatically better than his last start in New York. The lefty went six innings, giving up three earned runs. He walked four and struck out six. Both Benintendi and
Xander Bogaerts each had three-hit games—with
Dustin Pedroia,
Mitch Moreland (massive HR),
Jackie Bradley, Jr. and
Christian Vazquez getting two hits apiece. With
The Evil Ones losing in
La-La Land, Boston is now just three games back.
