The Red Sox had only six hits last night at
The Concrete Bunker On 161st Street—but three of them were home runs.
Mitch Moreland (2-run blast),
Andrew Benintendi (solo) and
Hanley Ramirez (solo) accounted for four of the five runs needed to
smite The Pinstriped Posers 5-4. While
Drew Pomeranz delivered another solid start—he lasted just five innings due to an excessive pitch count. The bullpen—once again—came through big time, particularly
Joe Kelly and
Craig Kimbrel (who struck out
five in 1.1 innings for his 17th save). This was a very sweet win—with a lasting memory of Kelly blasting 104 MPH fastballs past
Aaron Judge, only to strike him out on an off-speed pitch. Nice. A win tonight puts
The Carmine Hose into a first place tie.
