Tanner Houck |
Yesterday,
we suggested that the Red Sox take one of three collegiate pitchers:
Tanner Houck of Missouri,
Griffin Canning of UCLA or
Seth Romero of the University of Houston. Lo and behold, Boston took Houk with the 24th overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft—and are looking to groom the 21-year-old as a starter. The 6'5", 218-pounder has a hard sinking fastball that can top out in the high 90s. Houck posted 3.33 ERA this season—with 95 strikeouts and 24 walks in 14 starts for Missouri.
