Returning to Camden Yards to face the franchise that signed him,
Eduardo Rodriguez tossed an uncharacteristically bad game—
resulting in a 7-5 Red Sox loss. E-Rod went just 5.2 innings—yielding seven earned runs (including four home runs). This one was over early, despite a flurry of ninth-inning scoring by Boston—chiefly on a three-run home run by
Jackie Bradley, Jr. The Carmine Hose did collect nine hits—but four of them came in the ninth. It was all too much to overcome once the starting pitching had failed.
