Don't Look Now, But The Red Sox-Yankee Rivalry Is Back
Your 2017 Carmine Hose could walk out of The Concrete Bunker On 161st Street late Thursday night in sole possession of fist place in the AL East. All it will take is a sweep of The Pinstriped Posers who temporarily occupy that spot. Perhaps sooner than many of us expected, the "re-set" button (with apologies to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton) has be firmly pressed on The Greatest Rivalry In Sports. The two adversaries will go toe-to-toe in the Bronx on three successive nights starting tomorrow. Interestingly, both teams have essentially built a contender around young players from their respective minor league systems. The Evil Ones unloaded a lot of dead weight and collected draft picks that have turned out quite well—and, in fact, their remaining stockpile of prospects is probably better than ours at the moment. Nonetheless, it's fun to contemplate years of competition among Mookie Betts, Aaron Judge, Andrew Benintendi, Gary Sanchez—et. al. Let's get it started!
