In this ten-game start to the 2017 season, the Red Sox have put up quite a few stinkers. Tonight was one of the smelliest.
Rick Porcello—you know the 2016
Cy Young winner—coughed up
four home runs and eight runs in just 4 1/3 innings on the way to
a 10-5 rout at Fenway. At one point trailing 8-0, Boston
did fight back—actually garnering more hits than the Rays. But one of the Rays "hits" was a grand slam—pretty much putting the capper on this puppy. The only bright lights were from the bats of
Xander Bogaerts and
Mookie Betts—with three and four hits, respectively. Move on, Nation.
