Red Sox "Toying" With Batting Andrew Benintendi Third
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Red Sox are seriously considering batting Andrew Benintendi (L) third in the order—likely behind Dustin Pedroia (R) and Xander Bogaerts (R). Mookie Betts (R), Hanley Ramirez (R) and Mitch Moreland (L) would likely follow in this scenario. That would place 'A-Ben' (our unilaterally-imposed nickname for Benintendi) in the same spot as a left-handed Red Sox rookie of the past—Fred Lynn. So far is his career, Benintendi has not shown any wilting under the pressure, so he'd probably be just as productive as he would be in the #2 spot. So far this Spring, A-Ben is hitting .409 with two HRs and a 1.298 OPS. Stay tuned!
