Red Sox Sue App Maker For Non-Payment On Contract
According to the Boston Business Journal, the Red Sox have sued app-maker Giga for not paying agreed-upon amounts in an advertising contract with the team. The Sox are alleging that the app company has not paid required amounts in the early stages of a three-year deal (including placement of ads on The Green Monster). For the 2016 season, Giga was supposed to have paid the Red Sox $2.4 million—with the team claiming they only got $150,000. So, understandably, they are looking for the full amount of the terminated contract ($7.5 million)—plus a 1.5 percent per month late fee. Giga is the maker of the Selfeo app—which lets users see multiple screens on their smartphones at the same time.
