Thanks to an insightful analysis by
Eno Sarris of
FanGraphs.com, we get a better understanding of how
David Price's elbow issues may have affected one of his key pitches: the cutter. Last year, Price's cutter was catching
way too much of the plate against righties—far different from his 2015 location. Despite still being a workhorse (230 innings, 17 wins), Price seemed far to hittable last year—
particularly on that cutter. Sarris surmises that he may have been hurting and unable to command this key pitch the way he used to. Since we now know it was just a ligament strain, a significant amount of rest should allow Price to gain back that cutter command.
