Speculation has been slowly building that retired Red Sox icon
David Ortiz could very well end up in the NESN broadcast booth
this year—at least on a limited basis. These stories are now
building to the point of near certainty as people like team President
Sam Kennedy have explicitly floated the idea. Said Kennedy,
"He's got a lot of different interests. Broadcasting is certainly one. It'd be interesting to see if he goes into national broadcasting. We'd certainly love to have him part of our local broadcast team on a limited basis." Ortiz is scheduled to make an appearance at Red Sox Spring Training soon, so there will be an opportunity to confirm or deny this information directly with
Big Papi. Ortiz did a credible job as a commentator on FOX during its coverage of the 2014 World Series. Stay tuned—
