Many in
The Nation are getting
agita over the prospect of
Pablo Sandoval manning
The Hot Corner again. Even if he's in shape,
at best he's a marginal regular-season performer (and thus
way over-paid at five years and $95 million). There is some light at the end of the third-base tunnel, however. In fact, Boston has three young prospects who could fill the spot over the next couple of years. Leading the pack are
Rafael Devers and
Michael Chavis. Both are legitimate boppers.
But also in the mix is Bobby Dalbec—Boston's fourth round selection in the 2016 draft. His one season in the Boston organization was tantalizing. In only 34 games for Single A Lowell, Dalbec hit .386, with 13 doubles, 2 triples, 7 HRs and 33 RBIs. As pointed out by
OutsidePitchMLB's
Hunter Noll, Dalbec could be an option at first base or DH if his path is blocked at third.
