Sandoval (L); Moreland (R) |
As we all bask in the glory of the Red Sox off-season—and project them as a 'slam dunk' to repeat as AL East Champs—a stark reality is beginning to set in with the New Year.
Pablo Sandoval and
Mitch Moreland are likely to start the season as our corner infielders?
Say what? Apparently,
Dave Dombrowski is comfortable with that (at least about The Panda) saying,
"I think he can come back and be a good, dependable, everyday third baseman for us, from an offensive and a defensive perspective. I think if he can go out there and hit .270 to .275 and hit 12 to 15 home runs and knock in 70 to 75 runs at third base for us, I don’t think that’s asking too much of him. He’s done those types of things in the past." Still, the thought of those two 'anchoring' our infield gives us some serious
agita.
