The Red Sox today announced that
their player development contract with the Portland (ME) Sea Dogs has been extended through the 2020 season. The AA Eastern League franchise has been affiliated with the Red Sox organization since 2003. It had previously been aligned with the Marlins organization. Twenty-one players on the current Red Sox roster have passed through the team's
Hadlock Field—including
Xander Bogaerts,
Jackie Bradley Jr.,
Dustin Pedroia,
Mookie Betts and
Andrew Benintendi. Some Sea Dogs from the past that have played for
The Carmine Hose include:
Josh Beckett,
Adrian Gonzalez,
Mark Kotsay,
Kevin Millar, and
Edgar Renteria.
