Former Red Sox catcher—and two-time World Series champion—
David Ross will join ESPN as an MLB analyst. Ross won a ring with
The Carmine Hose in 2013—catching four of the six games in that year's
Fall Classic. Last year, he helped
Theo Epstein,
Jon Lester and
Anthony Rizzo end the
Cubbie Curse. Ross has had previous broadcast experience—his gregarious personality is a natural for TV commentary. In his combined three years in a Red Sox uniform, Ross hit only .195, with 11 HRs and 25 RBIs. But his defensive prowess and team leadership qualities far outshone his stats.
