As David Ortiz departed the Red Sox scene, he made a point to acknowledge the deep core of young talent he was leaving behind. Indeed, the Red Sox are arguably the most talented group of young players in baseball—with the possible exception of the World Series Champion Cubs. If Dave Dombrowski goes out and gets Edwin Encarnación to replace Big Papi, Boston should roll the dice on the kids and let it all hang out next season. As one of the current Presidential candidates might say, "What have you got to lose?" Forget about more "seasoning" in the minors—go for it. Here would be our preferred lineup on Opening Day 2017:
Dustin Pedroia, 2B
Yoan Moncada, 3B
Mookie Betts, CF
Edwin Encarnación, DH
Hanley Ramirez, 1B
Xander Bogaerts, SS
Andrew Benintendi, LF
Jackie Bradley, Jr. RF
Christian Vazquez, C
Just do it!
