New Arizona Manager Torey Lovullo |
As expected, the Diamondbacks have
selected former Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo as their new manager. The 51-year old Lovullo was manager
John Farrell's bench coach from 2012-2016. During Farrell's bout with cancer, Lovullo became acting Red Sox manager and paced the team to a surprisingly good 28-20 record. He was seen as a possible heir apparent to Farrell. Now, Lovullo will take over a struggling Arizona franchise that lost 93 games in 2016. In fact, the D'Backs have not had a winning record since 2011, when they were skippered by
Kirk Gibson. We wish Torey the best of luck in his new role in the desert.
