Ziegler (L); Koji (R) |
Our
FenwayNation September Player Of The Month award goes to
two members of the Red Sox bullpen who led the way to a resurgence of the relief corps during the month. Both
Koji Uehara and
Brad Ziegler earned the joint honors by
delivering
big time (as
Donald Trump might say) in September. Koji threw 11 innings in 11 games (mostly in the 8th) and posted a 0.00 ERA—holding opposing hitters to a .167 batting average. He walked just two batters during the month and struck out twelve—on
an 86-MPH fastball and his signature splitter. Similarly, Ziegler hurled 10 innings during twelve appearances—also delivering a 0.00 ERA. He walked three and struck out ten—holding opponents to the exact same .167 batting average. We salute both Koji and Brad as our
FenwayNation September Players Of The Month.
