The Red Sox traveled all night from San Diego to
The Great White North—and they did so as the sole occupants of first place in the American League East. That reality is due to
a solid 7-2 victory over the Friars that featured three Boston HRs (
Travis Shaw,
Hanley Ramirez,
Brock Holt).
David Price secured his 15th win of the year—and drew down his ERA to under four (3.87). The lefty went seven strong innings, giving up six hits and two earned runs, while striking out eight. And, following the lead of
many Boston starters lately, Price walked
nobody.
Dustin Pedroia also contributed on the offensive side, going 2-4 and driving in two runs (he now has 60 RBIs). All in all, a morale-boosting win for a team that has been through a lot—and now sits alone atop the division with 23 games to play. It's all in their hands now.
