David Price and the Red Sox had a shot at clinching the American League East title last night. They both failed. Price in particular continued his horrific season against
The Evil Ones—coughing up all six earned runs on three HRs. Boston had scratched back to tie the game at four in the seventh, only to have the lefty give the lead right back to New York in the bottom half of the inning in
the eventual 6-4 loss. The offensive stars for Boston were
Dustin Pedroia (2-4, 2 RBIs),
Aaron Hill (pinch-hit HR) and
Xander Bogaerts (3-5). A Red Sox win or Blue Jay loss tonight will clinch the division title.
