There will be a handful of epic moments in this amazing 2016 season. One will be the
Hanley Ramirez walk-off HR against
The Evil Ones. Another will be last night's eight-pitch
Grand Slam at-bat by
Dustin Pedroia. Barely foul-ticking a pitch to stay alive, Pedroia golfed a change-up over the left-field fence to give Boston a 6-3 advantage in
an eventual 6-4 win. With playoff math only
Stephen Hawking could understand, the victory propelled the Red Sox to their first post-season berth since the 2013 World Series Championship season.
Rick Porcello pitched well enough to garner his 22nd win of the year, and the bullpen once again demonstrated its September magic.
Brock Holt and Hanley also contributed to the cause, but, again, Boston seems to be getting "team wins" in September—contributions from exactly every player they need.
The Magic Number to clinch the AL East title is now just three.
