Craig Kimbrel could have done it.
Joe Kelly could have done it.
Mookie Betts certainly did his MVP-best to do it. But the Red Sox
backed their way into the AL East crown with
a humiliating 5-3 walk-off loss to The Evil Ones. After breaking open a tight 0-0 game in the eighth with three runs, Boston could not enjoy an on-field victory celebration as Kimbrel and Kelly imploded in the ninth. This does not bode well for the post-season. Don't get us wrong, it's great that we got an ugly clinch last night—but a lot of Red Sox fans have a very bitter taste in their mouth this morning. Let's just start setting the playoff rotation and roster—and think twice (or maybe
three times) about Kimbrel in the 9th.
