Clay Buchholz pitched seven solid innings and
Andrew Benintendi launched a three-run HR to
vault the Red Sox past the Orioles, 5-1. Boston trailed 1-0 with two outs in the 6th inning and then erupted for five unearned runs for their
seventh win in a row. An infield error let the first two runs across and then Benintendi unloaded for his second career HR. Buchholz hurled seven amazing innings—giving up just three hits and a run for his eighth win of the year. The tall Texan put himself right back in the conversation for the playoff rotation. As they have all month, the bullpen came through with another two scoreless innings. The win reduced the
Magic Number to clinch the division down to six. Boston goes for its second straight four-game sweep tomorrow night.
