OK, we're going to advocate something that may upset many of our readers:
Joe Girardi should be named
AL Manager Of The Year. Despite effectively dropping out of playoff contention this week-end, the
2016 Bronx Embalmers have no business even
sniffing October. Take a look at their 'post-unload' roster. Talk about the
Island Of Misfit Toys! Think about it,
John Farrell has a roster chock-full of emerging young, athletic superstars—guys like
Mookie Betts,
Xander Bogaerts,
Jackie Bradley, Jr., and
Andrew Benintendi. Girardi has
Gary Sánchez.
Period. Even in 2015, a pathetic Yankee team in fact
did make the post-season—and it was almost totally due to Girardi's managing skills. He might get eviscerated in the shameful New York sports media, but, as far as we can see, he's the best skipper in the American League.
