Portland Sea Dog first-baseman
Cody Decker would
love to be called up to the parent Red Sox club in September. However, shy of
that, he's looking forward to the more realistic September option of
playing for the Israeli national team in the World Baseball Classic qualifier in Brooklyn, NY. Decker played for the Israeli squad during the qualifying round of the 2013 WBC—but the team fell just short of making it to the tournament. The Israeli roster is made up mostly of American players of Jewish heritage. Decker was signed by the Red Sox after being released by the Rockies, and is thrilled with his attachment to
The Carmine Hose. Said Decker,
"I'm having a great time. It's the Red Sox. Who doesn't want to play for the Red Sox?" Good attitude!
