Shipping Up Or Not? |
According to multiple reports this morning,
the Red Sox are not counting on a reunion with former closer (and now free-agent) Jonathan Papelbon. While it
could still happen, word is that the team would rather rely on 'multiple internal options' to fill the sometimes cavernous void in the bullpen (e.g.,
Joe Kelly and
Brian Johnson). A little over six days ago, reports indicated that Papelbon would pick a new team within a 24-hour window.
That didn't happen, so, maybe these reports are wrong as well. We still think signing Pap is a no-brainer—cheap and low-risk.
