Benintendi (L); Quintana (R) |
According to
an unconfirmed report from BarstoolSports, new Red Sox OF
Andrew Benintendi was nearly dealt to the Chicago White Sox—along with
Michael Kopech,
Trey Ball,
Brian Johnson and a player to be named—in exchange for 27-year old RHP
José Quintana. The 5-or-1 swap would have sent Boston's 2nd, 5th, 7th and 17th best prospects to
The Pale Hose. Quintana is a really good young pitcher (9-8, 2.93 ERA this season), but dealing away
five prized prospects was
way too high a price—and thankfully,
Dave Dombrowski agreed. At least we
hope that's the case—although the report is that the
White Sox turned down the deal.
