Alex Rodriguez Brought All Of This Disdain On Himself
He was the number one overall pick in the 1993 MLB Draft. If you look at his Baseball Reference page there is "black ink" (indicating league-leadership) all over it. Alex Rodriguez could have been the most celebrated, admired and beloved player in the history of the game. But, pure and simple, he blew it. He possessed all the natural talent needed to dominate his peers—but he chose a cheapened short-cut to 'glory'. The tragedy is—he didn't need to cheat and he didn't even get the glory. So, as he ends his career, he's left with virtually no adoration, no appreciation for his manifest gifts and no real place in baseball history. He brought it all on himself.
