The Red Sox pulled the trigger on a starter deal—and got a guy who was in demand by nine other teams—San Diego LHP Drew Pomeranz. The price was very high, however, as Boston sent 19-year old stud pitcher
Anderson Espinoza to the Padres. The jury will be out on this deal for a long time—and it could turn out to be pretty bad if Espinoza reaches what most scouts project to be elite status. Still, Boston needed to make a deal like this and Pomeranz is relatively young (27) and under financial control for a couple of more years. We shall see!
