Red Sox Prospect Hits 105 MPH In Single-A Salem Game
On Wednesday, Red Sox Single A pitching prospect Michael Kopech hit 105 MPH on a radar gun. The amazing reading came during a game between Boston's High-A Salem club and Wilmington. The 20-year old righty hurled five scoreless innings—striking out eight. Even Aroldis "Get Out of My Garage" Chapman has 'only' hit 103.8 MPH this year. Of course, velocity isn't everything—the landscape is littered with 'century-mark' guys who had serious aversions to the strike zone. Also, Kopech missed the first two months of 2016 with a broken hand. How did he get that broken hand, you may ask? Well, it happened in a fight with a teammate in Spring Training. Yikes! Hopefully, he's reformed.
