Steven Wright got some offensive support last night—and for once, he needed it. The Boston knuckle-baller was dominant for a while, but lost his touch in the later innings of
an 11-6 victory. Wright had held the powerful Ranger lineup to just three hits through five innings, but Texas erupted for two in the sixth and three in the seventh, to make what had once been a comfortable 11-1 blowout into a
game. Never fear, the bullpen came in for three shutout innings to seal the win.
David Ortiz clouted his 20th HR of the year in the contest (the 15th season he's done that), and
Bryce Brentz had two hits and three RBIs. All in all, a satisfying night—although Boston remained stuck in third place in the AL East.
