With a huge (and largely friendly) contingent of Giants fans in attendance at Fenway, the Red Sox took care of business (with relative ease) in
a 4-0 win last night. Granted the San Francisco lineup has little protection for their only really force (
Buster Posey), but
Rick Porcello seemed to have the perfect approach to consistently get them out in key spots. For example, after the first two batters of the game reached, Porcello struck out the side to end the threat. On the offensive side, it was basically the story of two home runs off old friend
Jake Peavy. On the night that fans got a commemorative "
Pet Brock",
Brock Holt went yard to get Boston on the board, 1-0. Then, the 'old guy' did it again.
David Ortiz launched a mammoth 451-ft HR into the right center-field bleachers to extend the lead to 4-0. After that, it was pretty much a cake-walk to victory (except for the weird pectoral injury to
Koji Uehara in the 9th). Baltimore's loss moved the Red Sox to within just a half-game of the lead in the American League East.
