Brian Bannister Will 'Help' Carl Willis With Sox Pitching
OK, we'll try not to be too cynical about this. The Red Sox announced this afternoon that Brian Bannister, the director of 'pitching analytics' for the entire organization, will "help out" current pitching coach Carl Willis for the rest of the 2016 season. Not to be too alarmist, but we would recommend that Carl get his resume in order. Boston's overall staff numbers so far this year are abysmal: a 4.48 ERA (22nd out of 30 in the MLB). While Bannister will not be in the dugout, multiple reports suggest he will be in uniform. Hey, it cuts down on the tailoring lag-time when he's named pitching coach. Stay tuned!
